The Exchange | Bath

1-3 James Street West comprises the regeneration of the former Labour Exchange. The building, which bears very visible scars from the Bath blitz in 1942, was most recently home to local charity, Genesis Trust, which will be relocated to a new premises on Walcot Street as part of the redevelopment plans. This scheme is a joint venture with the Widcombe Social Club and involves the redevelopment of this former canal wharf site in the centre of Bath. The delivered product comprises a mixed-use scheme incorporating 40 student rooms, and a supermarket, which acts as an enabling development for the delivery of a new leisure club. Given the World Heritage status of the city, the scheme required significant planning interaction to arrive at a sympathetic solution that enhances the local area.
